obama and governor romney is dead even. latest fox news poll of likely voters showing president obama and governor romney are tied at 46%. today the battleground states becoming a battlefield. >> president obama has seen a once steady lead in michigan decline two points. michigan is in toss-up status. the poll is from the detroit news. it finds obama leading romney 47-45%. that is the second poll in the week that has shown a tight race in michigan. >> it's not too late to turn this around. we can save medicare and social security. we can cut spending to get this budget balanced and pay off this debt. we can get people out of poverty and back to the middle-class. we can get america back on the right track and give our kids a debt free future. >> so ask yourself, who do you trust to be straight with you, to level with you. who do you trust to stand up for the middle-class and measuring? ladies and gentlemen, we are not. these guys, we are not in decline. they are in denial. >> you got fundamentals in this race. one of the fundamentals is the economy is horrible. you have the tea p

president obama 49% to 47%. now, that is westboun within thn of error. former mississippi governor haley bar bore join barber join. good evening. > >> greta: have you had any further thoughts about the race? >> for my thinking, the biggest change in the race is to obama's favor and that's been this storm, you know. any day that we're not talking about the economy and jobs, that we're not talking about obama's record for debt and deficits, health care, energy, any day we're talking about something else, that's good for obama, and so i will be surprised if he doesn't make a little bit of a comeback here. he's had a prett pretty solid mt for a month. there wasn't anything happen to stop the movement by romney. what may stop it is this storm and not so much that the president will do a great job, although i don't have any doubt that he will. mostly what happens right after a terrible storm is we know where i come from, it's the local first responders. it's the firemen, the policeman, the highway patrolmen, the national guardsmen, the mayors, the governors, but the federal government ha

governor romney ahead by three. the governor with 50% of the vote and president obama with 47%. dick morris joins us. good evening, dick. >> good. i heard a great joke yesterday. if obama is reelected imagine the mess he will inherit. >> okay. i'm sure that the obama campaign will like that but the romney cam -- won't like that but the romney camp will enjoy that a bit. looking at the polls tonight, wisconsin in four years ago, president obama stormed the state by 14 points. this does seem to be a seismic shift in the state. >> there is. wisconsin has become a republican state by virtue of the incredibly intense organizational efforts there of governor scott walker's people, americans for prosperity and various other political groups that have really mobilized the free market forces in the state. they have been through a recall election. a senate recall. a judicial election. and, of course, the original election in 2010 and they won them all and i think wisconsin is going to go for romney. let me put this in a context, greta. i don't think any one has the overview. 179 lectorral votes and s

obama is not answering questions or having a press conference. we'll continue to pursue it until we figure out what the answers are. but do you think governor romney on the campaign trail should be raising this issue, or not? >> i'd like for him to. but you know, i am very reluctant, particularly since i am the loser to give advice to a campaign. but i can tell you, whether mitt romney is raising these questions or not, i am telling you, the reaction that i am getting from veterans across -- i am in north dakota today. i am telling you, i am getting a reaction the likes of which i have seldom seen from our retired, our veterans, or acting duty people, our guardsmen. they know what is going on. they know a coverup is going on. i can tell you, they do not trust the president of the united states. and by the way, could i just mention, that the president -- this interfered with the president's narrative that he got lad scplad so therefore, al qaeda's -- he got bin laden and so therefore al qaeda's on the run. we got the pictures of the president and his team watching in realtime, gettin

, polls showing president obama with a razor-thing thin lead. but good news for governor romney. joining me is our panel. first, rick, the good news for the governor is with independents? >> independents. you look throughout the polls, dismacial state-level poll, governor romney is winning independent, sometimes by a lot. this is interesting for a couple of reasons, president obama won independents widely four years ago. john kerry won among independents 8 years ago in the battleground states. so this is a big reversal. can the president lose independents that badly and still win? there is a good chance that the independents look different. a lot of them are probably republicans, calling themselves independents because they are disaffected with the party and they are tea partyers. but it is a major shift to see independents, people who call themselves independents not going for president obama. you ask the romney folks and they say, this is a sign of weakness. this says our guy is very much in the mix, despite the battlegrounds. >> greta: steve, which team would you rather be on

for obama. >> greta: does it help? i don't know if you've seen the words of governor chris christie. he had some high praise for the president. does that have any impact, a republican governor, and one who is quite popular within the party and certainly is quite colorful. does that have any impact at all on the race at this point? >> look. people understand that chris christie's job is to try to protect the lives, the families, and the property of the people of new jersey, and to try to turn around what's happened and get started in a recovery mode as fast as they can, and that one of the resources is the federal government. the federal government has large program, particularly in the next few weeks, and so any governor of either party should treat the president with respect, and i can tell you when we dealt with bp oil spill and this administration, if we thought the administration or the government was not doing something well, we didn't go out and say it on television. we took it up with them quietly and said look, we think this is a problem. we think this needs to be changed. s

are barack obama are holding back be that recovery. >> the controversy of governor chris christie. some said he should redeclare his support for governor romney prior to tuesday. do you think that is important? would you like to see that? >> no, i know who chris supports. he supports mitt romney. i understand what happens when the president came there. the reality is the president did in the first couple of days of hurricane sandy the president did keep his eye on the ball and did h help, new jersey, and new york and elsewhere. last couple of days, awol on that as well while people are suffering. bodies being discovered. gas lines where people are shooting my goodness and the president of the united states runs off to nevada once again being the campaigner in chief rather than the commander in chief. which s what happened in benghazi. the president's focus is on the cam tape and not on protecting american lives and not getting to the answers of what happened to those people who were slaughtered in benghazi. he s campaigning rather than acting as commander are in chief. >> greta: y

, governor walker have a point, in 2008, president obama won by 14 big points. >> that's right. if you look back at wisconsin in 2000, 2004 two of the tightest races you can imagine. both of those cases you had a very, very narrow democratic victory. 2008 i think was an anomaly and then you have governor sidewalker's successful effort to beat the recall this year and you have some evidence of wisconsin voters listening to a republican message and most importantly this year outperforming the polls. governor walker did much better than any one thought he did. he was able to easily withstand the national attention and national money. makes it a target rich environment for mitt romney. although it has religio only bn the last couple of weeks he made a big effort there. they haven't put a lot of resources into wisconsin except in the last couple of weeks. >> the recall effort helped republicans because the ground game, obama's ground game across the country is better than romney's. and so i think because of the recall effort the republicans are running neck and neck. i think the republicans mitt

. >> greta: of course, governor christie is grateful for any assistance from president obama to help his citizens of new jersey. that's his job. some have said, he has been effusive and gone overboard in support of president obama and he was the keynote speaker and critical of president obama on the campaign trail. any thoughts on that. >> i am from florida. we have had so many storms. i remember in a 16-month period, we had 8 named storm it's hurricanes come through our state. we have been on the other end of that. tell consume the state government, i think that's what governor christie has been focused on. i am not sure if it's a good time to do a political analysis. all i can tell you, as a floridian on the receiving end of in of these storms, our heart goes out to these folks because long after the cacameras have moved on, they are continuing to reblgd their lives. it's a long, costly, painful process that disrupts lives and some folks can never rebuild because of the storm. we wish the best for them and hopefully, you know, we doll all we can to be helpful. >> greta: how many po
